DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Conducts outreach efforts targeting faculty, students, and staff in the School of Business, UConn Entrepreneurship & Innovation Consortium, and other University centers, institutes, and programs within the field of business.
- Acquires and maintains a thorough knowledge of constituents’ needs to develop collaborations and innovative services designed to promote resources, products, tools, and opportunities that foster learning, research, publication, and scholarship.
- Applies a thorough knowledge of current pedagogical approaches in order to create effective in-person and virtual learning experiences.
- Works closely with constituents to enhance understanding of scholarly communication, including: contemporary research, scholarship, publication, author rights, open access, open educational resources, fair use, and data management through informational consultations, educational workshops and seminars, and independent learning objects.
- Applies a thorough knowledge of current information resources in business and collaborates with Library colleagues and faculty on collection development decision making.
- Participates in the Library’s in-person and virtual reference services.
- Initiates and participates in product and service assessments and provides statistics and other data to support decision making.
- Participates in scholarly and professional activities to maintain a thorough knowledge of and competency in the tools and skills of professional librarianship, may necessitate participation in professional organizations at the University, regional, or national level.
- Maintains a current knowledge of Library and University policies and procedures affecting public service operations.
- Travel required to support business efforts across UConn campuses.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Appointments as a University Librarian 1 (UCP 5)
- Graduate degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association accredited program (or international equivalent).
- Work experience in an academic library or educational setting relevant to the position.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of business resources.
- Demonstrated instruction and presentation skills with business resources in both individual and group settings.
- Evidence of strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to think strategically, be innovative, and embrace change.
- Willingness to travel to support programs across the UConn campuses and work a flexible schedule.
ADDITIONAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for appointment as a University Librarian 2 (UCP 7)
- Minimum of three years related experience in an academic, research, or corporate library setting.
- Experience participating in managing a budget for a department, project, team, or committee.
- Evidence of increasing involvement in professional development activities at the local level or higher.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS for both Ranks
Demonstrated research expertise with commercial and academic business databases, including specialized databases and statistical packages, such as WRDS and Standard Rate and Data Service (SRDS).
Proven ability to establish demand for services and resources through active promotion and outreach.
Demonstrated experience creating online learning objects and tutorials.
Demonstrated knowledge of critical pedagogical methods.
Demonstrated knowledge of scholarly communication processes.
Demonstrated knowledge of intellectual property, patents, or trademarks.
This is a full time position with an anticipated start date of November 10, 2017.
